Your explanation of the actions of Democratic politicians is the only one I have read that makes any sense. In general, I don't believe that most political types give a rat's a** for the average person. Vote for me, pay your taxes, shut up, and go away. The concepts of democracy and its possible destruction are too vague for the average person to focus on. Walter Lippmann's book about why the average person has no time for politics is as relevant today as it was years ago when it was published. It is possible, the excesses of the Grifter in Chief and his co-president Musk-Rat will push the voting public into the arms of Bernie and AOC. Our country could do a lot worse, and is doing a lot worse than electing people whose proposals are aimed at the average working-class American.
