Which End of the Political Spectrum are Our Leaders?
Liberal? Conservative? Nihilist?
Without getting into the weeds of specific definitions, I believe the following is basically accurate:
Liberals generally accept that we are all equal, that violating the rights of anyone is tantamount to violating the rights of all of us. That government is our best way of organizing society and helping one another.
Conservatives generally try to preserve the status quo, resist any changes to culturally accepted norms, and in many cases deny what science has to say about areas including climate change, vaccinations, and sexuality.
Nihilists — people who want to tear down everything; destruction is the aim, and there are no concrete plans for what comes after everything is destroyed. At least, no publicly expressed plans for what comes after they have destroyed as much as they could. These people are not to be confused with the Silicon Valley expression — Move fast and break things. This expression applies to technological changes, where the newer toys are seen to be better than the existing ones.
Nihilists have taken over our government. I compare the changes they have brought to having children repair your car, and you wonder why it no longer runs. They fire people and then hire some of them back…
