Are Un-Elected People Destroying our Government?

On July 11, 2025, The Wall Street Journal published an article highlighting the changes within our government, focusing on Steve Davis as one of the masterminds of the DOGE program designed for cost reduction. His mantra reflects that of his leader, Elon Musk: “Move fast, and break things.”

Neither Mr. Musk nor Mr. Davis has been officially elected or appointed by Congress.

This may serve as an appropriate motto in the context of technological innovations, yet it lacks relevance in the domain of government policies and programs.

Hiring unqualified individuals to oversee the analysis of complex governmental projects is foolish and nearly grossly negligent.

Would you trust your lawyer or accountant to repair your car, or would you prefer to seek out a mechanic who has years of education and expertise in automobile repair?

Mr. Davis carelessly removes wires from government operations that he considers a misuse of taxpayer funds. Even though these programs and agencies were established with congressional authorization, he expediently eliminated them without considering the potential harm to others and in a manner many consider illegal.
