Has the crudeness of political rhetoric gone too far?

Washington Post opinion writer Catherine Rampell has an interesting position on the probable murder committed by Luigi Mangion. The apparent murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson has garnered a surprising response from the public and a few public figures.

Premise

As she put it, Ms. Rampell believes that some of the public’s response is “A symptom of a burn-it-all-down populism.”

Analysis

Other significant factors are involved besides the rhetoric spewed forth by many politicians. The anger directed at many major corporations and most governing bodies is not without cause. While much of the public suffers from climate change, oil company executives do nothing except make significant donations to some in Congress to block any bills that would work to mitigate the effects of a warming world.

The Major Culprits

The three major players in our healthcare system are actively milking every dollar possible from a powerless public. For-profit insurance companies make additional profits by denying claims. This technique is prevalent throughout the insurance industry but is most evident in healthcare. Hospitals…
