I have a personal goal of doing one good deed daily. Whether holding open a door for someone or helping an older person with their bags - every little bit helps.
Since I cannot do big things, I do my part with more minor actions, even trying to make people laugh and brighten their day.
You are doing similar things by writing about things many people wouldn't be thinking about if you hadn't called their attention to the issue.
As the poem goes, "I used to cry because I had no shoes until I met a man with no feet."
My Jewish friends have a saying about doing a Mitzah - basically doing a good deed with no expectation of getting reward. Of course, Ayn Rand would have said your reward is feeling good about yourself.
I don't care - to me the point is, if we all helped each other it would be a better world.
